Photos Featured in Leading Economic Development Journal / Gnarls Barkley Article

Last Spring, I was on assignment to shoot Blue Back Square - a part of the redevelopment of the city of West Hartford, CT. The photos were featured in the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) journal, "ShopTalk", which covers "education, resources, advocacy and network opportunities for economic development professionals". The following is an excerpt from the journal. Thank you to Caroline Craig, for forwarding me the article.

On a completely separate note, Gigwise.com, the UK's leading source of music news and culture, has published a new article on the collaboration of Gnarls Barkley and Oasis. The article features one of my shots from Gnarls' 2008 performance at NYC's Highline Ballroom.

Week in Review.

Congratulations to my girlfriend, Amy Sunners, for finally earning a blog-post devoted almost entirely to her. As we've been out of town for almost a week now (for both work & some much needed relaxation), I've compiled a small selection of images from the last few days of our "vacay". More to come.

And lastly, the always-essential
obnoxious "couples portrait" of the trip.

Eerie Brooklyn

If you know me personally, you know I thrive on a good scare. Growing up, I'd immerse myself in horror classics like 'The Pit and the Pendulum", Wolf Rilla's 'Village of the Damned', and of course, Kubrick's 'Shining', until I had grown up to lose all tact and give much praise to Stephen King's 'IT', sleep-away camp slashers, and any Japanese subtitled thriller, which would generally revolve around a dead orphan girl who haunts your quintessential American guy, gal, or newlywed couple. When my artist grandfather painted me a portrait of myself, I used to cry myself to sleep under the covers, thinking that the painting had come to life. The boy in the painting was making faces at me. END OF STORY.

My thirst for cheap thrill continued today, as my girlfriend Amy and I had taken the long way back from a photo gig in L.I.., driving through Howard Beach and Rockaway, Queens, finally ending up at an abandoned US Navy site in the deep end of Floyd Bennet Field National Recreation Area.

Who knew Brooklyn could be so creepy?

Jason Gardner: Photo Exhibit in Cobble Hill

Just wanted to put the good word out - Fellow photographer-friend, Jason Gardner, is going to be part of a group show at Shop Art Studio, in Brooklyn. "Shop Art is a neighborhood gallery that aims to make arts more accessible to people while allowing artists to increase their visibility and reach within their own community".

Jason will be exhibiting his photos from around the world, as well as some from his recent trips to Brazil. He'll be one of five exhibiting artists, however, he's the only photographer.

Here are the details for the show:

Shop Art Studio
51 Bergen Street (Between Smith St and Court St)
Brooklyn, NY

When: Saturday, April 4th
Time: 4pm - 7pm

All works will be for sale at affordable prices, and the show will be up for two months.
