Shooting for Downwind Magazine, July Issue

With the success of Downwind Magazine's premiere issue (having been distributed to airports and FBOs from New Hampshire to South Carolina, and spreading west...), comes the next step - shooting the July issue. My Saturday morning started nice and early, leaving Brooklyn at 5am and meeting Rich Edelson (Publisher/Editor-in-Chief) at MacArthur Airport, so we could fly to Barnes Airport in Westfield, Massachusetts. Our objective was to get there for breakfast, do an interview, shoot some planes, and be on our way so we could get back to NY by noon.

By the time we had smoothly taken off from the MacArthur runway and traveled over the Long Island sound into Connecticut (a matter of 10 to 15 minutes), Rich and his co-pilot, Oscar, had decided that too much cloud coverage in Massachusetts would prevent us from reaching our destination. A few alternate points of interest were discussed, and with a quick call to the air traffic control tower at Danbury Airport, we had settled for...yes, you guessed right...Danbury, CT. Clearly not our original intentions, but we still got breakfast, photographed some planes, met some nice aviator folks, and were back in NY by noon. Not a bad day's work...
