Greetings from Santa Monica
In beautiful Santa Monica on behalf of Downwind Magazine....Arrived at LAX early this afternoon and strolled around town for a bit, trying to acclimate myself with the area I'll be working in for the next 24 hrs. After shooting two weddings over the last 2 days, I'm running on little to no sleep. A good night's rest is certainly in order, but I assure you that more photos will be posted tomorrow, after the shoot. Til' then...

The Brown Family Annual Tomato Tasting
This past year has been an unusually tough year for tomato farmers - not just from the sudden explosion of late blight (a plant disease that attacks both tomatoes and potatoes), but also due to the massive amounts of rainfall we've had here in the northeast. Luckily, Norman Brown of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, had (what some would call) success with his 15+ different strains of tomato - grown right here in Kings County.
On August 10th, 2009, Norman and his family hosted their annual tomato tasting at Superfine in DUMBO, Brooklyn. More than 10 different types of tomatoes were lined up on the bar, where guests would fill their plates and stomachs, and vote on their favorite strain of Mr. Brown's delectable crop.

Guests were given 3 "voting coins" upon arrival. You
could use all 3 to vote for one tomato, or you could distribute
them among your favorites. These are the tallied votes that
decided which tomato would be crowned "king of 2009".

Aunt Ruby's German Green tomato took the crown
w/ 55 votes. My personal favorite.

My Clients Have Talent
I'm very pleased to share a link of this video montage that Daniel Pernikoff put together as his "save the date" for his October wedding in St. Louis. Daniel and his wife (they technically already tied the knot at City Hall),Jessica, asked me to come out to Missouri to photograph their wedding in the Fall. As part of their photo package, we conducted a series of engagement portraits here in Brooklyn's Coney Island.
Daniel, being the super-creative and talented motion graphics designer that he is, put together this video literally within minutes of my delivery of the images. Enjoy!
